Daniel (Dan) is a native Charlottean. He grew up in South Charlotte and attended Charlotte Country Day School. After graduating from Country Day School, Dan enrolled at Hampden-Syndey College in Virginia. He received a B.A. in Ecomonics (Cum Laude). While at Hampden-Sydney, Dan received the Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award for Economics and was inducted into the National Society in Economics, Omicron Delta Epsilon and the Eta of Virginia Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. Dan entered The Wake Forest School of Law in 1986 and graduated with his J.D. in 1989.
Dan has been an active member of the North Carolina State Bar since 1989. He is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the Mecklenburg County Bar and the North Carolina Bar Association. Dan is a current Board Member (2012-2014) of RELANC, the North Carolina Real Estate Lawyers Association of North Carolina.
Dan began his legal career in 1989 in Raleigh, North Carolina with the Firm of Smith, Debnam, Hibbert, and Pahl, P.A. After several years, Dan returned home to Charlotte and joined James, McElroy and Diehl, P.A. as an associate. In 1995, Dan became partner in the firm of McMillan, Surles & Terry, P.A. which later evolved into McMillan & Terry, P.A. Dan is now the member/manager of The Terry Law Firm, PLLC in the heart of South Park.
Dan and his wife, Laura Ann, were married in 1988 and currently live in South Charlotte. They have three children; Danny, Caroline and Mary Kathryn. The family is active in their church and are current members of the St. Patricks Parish.
Ruta Panomitros was recently admitted to the South Carolina Bar and now is working for us as an Attorney at Law for South Carolina. She was born and raised in Chicago by her two Lithuanian immigrant parents and earned her nursing degree at University of Illinois, then worked as an ICU nurse at Northwestern Memorial Hospital while attending DePaul University College of Law in the evening. After Ruta was admitted to the Bar in Illinois, she married Dr. Gregory E. Panomitros, they then moved to Galveston, Texas, where Ruta was admitted to The State Bar. Ruta and Greg lived in the greater Houston area where they had their two daughters, Sofia and Anastasia. After 12 years in Texas, the Panomitros family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina.
Ruta joined Dan Terry at his former office in 2009 and followed him to The Terry Law Firm in 2014. She is looking forward to working with Dan and their clients as they begin to represent buyers and sellers in South Carolina as well as the firm continuing to represent North Carolina in matters in real estate. She is also looking forward to working with both Dan and Will in expanding their practice to encompass matters other than real estate.
Ruta’s husband, Greg, works at CMC, in Charlotte, as a member of the Southeast Anesthesiolgy team. Ruta and Greg’s daughter, Sofia, recently accepted admission to The University of North Carolina in Asheville, where she will be working on a Liberal Arts Degree/focusing on Physics, and Anastasia is going to be a Sophomore at Providence High School in the fall, 2017. The Panomitros Family lives in South Charlotte with their other family members; german shepherds and various other pets.
William “Will” Kirk comes to The Terry Law Firm with 17 years of legal experience in real estate, secured transactions, bankruptcy and litigation. In the real estate industry, Will has been involved in all levels of real estate finance, from representing buyers, sellers and lenders at the closing table in residential and commercial transactions to representing underwriters for the issuance of mortgage-backed securities and CDOs. For the last 9 years, Will has represented creditors and title insurers to defend and enforce creditors’ rights in real estate, negotiate loan workouts, recover collateral and perform title curative actions. With The Terry Law Firm, Will looks to blend his extensive experience with the excellent customer service that buyers, sellers, brokers and lenders have come to expect, while broadening the firm’s ability to serve commercial as well as residential clientele.
Prior to practicing law, Will attended The George Washington University and West Virginia University, and was graduated from The Washington and Lee University School of Law in Lexington, Virginia, in 1999. He is admitted to practice law in five states and numerous federal districts, and has lived and practiced in Charlotte since 2006.
Outside of the office, Will and his wife, Lori, have two children and can be found most Saturdays on the sidelines of Charlotte area Soccer fields.

Mr. Polking practices in the areas of estate planning (wills/trusts et al) and administration, corporate law, commercial real estate, and commercial real estate lending. His practice focuses primarily on representing (I) individuals and families in achieving their goals in protecting and preserving the assets of their estates through estate planning and administration, (II), individuals and businesses in corporate law (including business entity formation, growth and succession), (III) sellers, buyers and developers in commercial real estate sales and acquisitions, (IV) banks and other financial institutions in commercial real estate lending transactions, and (V) landlords and tenants in drafting, reviewing and negotiating leases. Mr. Polking also has a very extensive background in representing large financial institutions in the area of structured finance. Mr. Polking has a broad and diversified array of legal experience having worked at AmLaw 100, midsize and boutique law firms in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Carol is a Charlotte native. She graduated from East Mecklenburg in 1970 and attended East Carolina. She worked for NCNB in the construction loan division for 3 years. She started working as a paralegal with Parham, Helms & Kellam in 1979 and worked there for 13 years. She left there and went to work for James, McElroy & Diehl in 1992, which later evolved into McMillan, Surles & Terry and then became McMillan & Terry. Carol left in January 2014 to work for Dan Terry, who opened his own law office, The Terry Law Firm, PLLC. She is excited to be working with Dan in a smaller, more personal atmosphere.
She has a grown son and daughter-in-law, a daughter and five wonderful grandchildren. Carol is a member of St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church.
Carol enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She plans to do more traveling in her free time, along with becoming more active with programs and missions at St. Stephen’s UMC.
Martha is a native Charlottean. Martha and her husband, Bob, have been married since 1993, they have one son, Chad, who is busy traveling for work all around the world. She worked with Dan, Carol and LuAnn for the past 20 years. and has since joined our firm.
Martha’s favorite hobby is working in her organic vegetable garden.
Ginger started in the Real Estate industry in 1978 at Home Federal Savings and Loan. She then went to The Real Estate Lending Division at what was then NCNB, leaving her position as an Assistant Vice-President to raise her two children. She re-entered the workforce in 2001 with Parham, Helms, & Harris, working there as a Paralegal for over 10 years, Ginger then went to work for McMillan & Terry in their Relocation Department and then for attorney R. Dale Fussell working on the Housing & Urban Development contract. Ginger has now reunited with her former colleagues and Dan Terry here at The Terry Law Firm as a Closing Paralegal.
Ginger was born in Durham but raised in Florida, attending Florida State University graduating in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Business. She and her late husband Rick Kurtz have two children, son Spencer and his wife Deanna and daughter Mary Ellen, both residing in Charlotte and step-son Steven Kurtz and his wife Kyley and their children Aletta and Lily all living in Raleigh.
Ginger’s interest include sports, yard work and gardening, hiking, and volunteer work at Christ Episcopal Church. One of her “dream trips” to take would be visiting all of the National Parks in the United States by train.
Lu Ann and her husband moved to Charlotte from the Kernersville/Winston-Salem area in 1986. She worked with Chuck Bennett at Weaver, Bennett & Bland in Matthews, NC., where Lu Ann was trained as a Real Estate Paralegal. She then joined Ralph McMillan at James, McElroy & Diehl in 1991, where she worked with Ralph McMillan and Dan Terry until April 2010. She helped Ralph and Dan establish the satellite office of McMillan & Terry, P.A., at the University Office. Lu Ann has continued working part time on a contractual basis with various law firms in the area such as; The Bain Group, Brad A. Baily, Leslie M. Webb and Wallace & Pittman. She loves being back with Dan in his smaller office environment, believing Dan has pulled together a great group of people. Lu Ann is currently working three days per week with the firm helping to schedule closings, setting up files, and assisting Carol, Martha and Vikki as much as possible.
Lu Ann has a beautiful granddaughter and a new grandson. Working part-time affords Lu Ann the luxury of spending more time with her family, which she loves very much.
